Join The Rebellion Reading Club
The Rebellion are reminding all teachers and students of the 2014 Rebellion Reading Club.
As part of the Rebellion Reading Program, each teacher or librarian determines the reading requirements for the students to complete the program. This can include number of pages, minutes or books read.
“The Reading Club is a great way for teachers to stress the importance of reading,” Matthew Banghart, an account executive for CONSOL Energy Park, who oversees the reading club, said. “When I was in school I would have loved to participate in a program that combined reading and baseball.”
To track their students’ progress, teachers are encouraged to guide the kids to read around the bases of a softball diamond. As a reward for completing the program, the students receive a reserved ticket to a Rebellion game.
Additionally, schools can enjoy a “Reading Club Night,” that includes a public address announcement acknowledging the students’ achievements, the chance to participate in pregame activities, seats in the ballpark.
“This organization strongly believes in education. That’s why we have decided to reach out to local schools and encourage reading,” Banghart said. “Kids who read are successful in life and the Wild Things are committed to offering the right incentives to inspire more kids to read.”
The reading program must be completed at least three (3) weeks prior to the school’s game date; so that all order forms can be submitted to the Rebellion. For more information, contact Matthew Banghart directly at 724-250-7646 or e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
